Team Spotlight - Sarita Govin Gonzales

After 25 years in the legal field, Sarita Govin Gonzales trusted the instincts of a longtime friend and legal recruiter, who told her it was time to move on – and that Scali Rasmussen was the right place to move to.

“I have always trusted her insights and advice. She told me she knew of a firm that would be a perfect match,” Sarita says.

Her faith in her friend paid off, as she said she’s been thriving at the firm since the first day of onboarding. As a Legal Secretary, Sarita is the steady hand behind the scenes, keeping cases, calendars, and court filings in sync. Her days span everything from drafting and proofreading legal documents to coordinating depositions and ensuring every deadline is met.

In just three months, she’s already become a go-to resource for her colleagues; so much so that when she volunteered to help the Conflicts and Research Team, she was so immediately effective in the role that she effectively became the department.

“What made this meaningful was the fact that even without a discussion, everyone was on the same page. The synchronicity allowed me to feel recognized and valued as a contributing part of the Scali Rasmussen Firm," she says.

Outside the office, Sarita is deeply involved with organizations like The People Concern, CASA, and the Downtown Women’s Shelter, helping underserved communities rebuild their lives. A member of the National Archives as a Citizen Archivist, she even spends free time transcribing handwritten records from Revolutionary War veterans.

An avid reader and lifelong learner, Sarita recommends Deepak Chopra’s “Digital Dharma”, which explores how AI can elevate spiritual intelligence, an idea she first wrote about in college. Sarita says there are two mantras she tries to live by - number one, “You can’t learn anything if you’re talking.”

The second mantra, a bit of timeless advice from her grandmother: “Life isn’t so much about accomplishments but more about what and how you overcome by living your life as an example.”
