A BROKER IS MUCH MORE THAN A NETWORK, BUT THE NETWORK STILL RULES

I asked Scali Rasmussen shareholder Bert Rasmussen for some ideas for the September newsletter and he suggested examining the changing role of the broker in buy sell deals. They used to just make introductions, Rasmussen said.

Well, buy sell professionals do so much more now. Notice I didn’t say brokers because many no longer call themselves brokers given the scale of services they offer. I talked with two long-time friends for the story on the evolving broker role. I know other friends would have had more to add but I didn’t have time!

One reason buy sell professionals are now offering such a broad array of services is that dealership business is growing in scale and complexity. Certified Public Accountants who work on buy sells tell me they, too, are providing services that might not always be associated with a CPA firm. Location study, anyone?

The heady profits of the COVID years created valuations that advisors and CPAs are dealing with now. I look at that in another story.

In this issue you will find:

  • A look at the evolving role of professionals handling buy sells
  • CPA takes on how they are adding more value to buy sells
  • An examination of the headache(s) COVID-era profits produced
  • A transaction profile of a group with new energy to grow
